Extra-Cash Gigs – Shipt Hiring Grocery Shoppers
Here’s another “get paid to shop for groceries” gig, much like Instacart. Shipt pays up to $25/hr. for people to shop for groceries and deliver them locally in their own car. (If you don’t have a car — and even if your credit’s poor — you don’t have to miss out on car-related gigs. You can drive for Uber.)
What’s the Deal?
Companies like Shipt, Instacart, Amazon (who’s hiring Amazon Flex non-pro drivers), Postmates (also hiring non-pro drivers), and others fill a growing demand. Everybody needs groceries, but not everyone can get to the store and do the shopping. Elderly people, time-starved working moms and dads, overworked executives – the list goes on. So companies like Shipt let them order with an app, and you get paid to buy and drop off the goods.
In Shipt’s words:
— 18 y/o minimum
— Reliable vehicle, 15 years old or newer
— iPhone (iOS 8 or newer) or Android (4.4.2 or newer)
— Valid U.S. driver’s license and auto insurance
— Thorough background check required
— Insulated cooler bag
— Knowledge of produce selection
— Ability to lift 25+ pounds
“Now recruiting Shoppers in locations in Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.” (If your location isn’t included, be sure to check our posts about Instacart, Amazon Flex and Postmates for more.)
Pay ranges from $15 to $25/hr., Shipt says. Overall income depends on how active you are. Some Shipters have done over 20 shops per day, per this Shipt video, which is serious cash – and serious shopping! But you don’t have to shop that often; it’s up to you.
