Make $11+/hour Working from Home as a Reader/Evaluator – Score Tests, Essays

Make $11+/hour Working from Home Scoring Tests & Essays

by Chris Durst       Nov. 28, 2016

Measurement Inc. is seeking work from home Reader/Evaluators to score essays, open-ended test items, and performance assessments.

As you will see below, they say pay varies. However, we have read posts on their site and from current Evaluators that pay is about $11.70/hour.

From their site:

Each of MI’s scoring centers maintains a pool of hundreds of Reader/Evaluators who are trained to score essays, open-ended test items, and performance assessments based on scoring criteria that differ by project. It is temporary, project-by-project work, and our need is greatest from January through June and to a lesser extent from September through December. We offer paid training and a professional yet relaxed working atmosphere. Test content areas vary, so if you earned a four-year college degree in any field, yesterday or decades ago, chances are, we need you!

Many projects require readers to score essays for content, organization, grammatical convention, etc. Some projects involve scoring test items in math, science, social studies, or other areas. Projects may scanned responses displayed on a computer screen or video recordings of examinees performing a task. The tests come from many different states and from students at all grade levels, elementary through college, and professionals.

Each project has its own scoring criteria; therefore, we conduct paid training at the beginning of each project. Readers must be able to accept and use the required scoring procedure and maintain consistent and reliable scoring throughout the project. They also must be willing to operate in a repetitive task situation and maintain confidentiality and project security.

  • Proof of a bachelor’s degree, any field
  • Ability to perform adequately on the placement assessment
  • Completion of a successful interview
  • Professional references
  • Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
  • Access to a home computer, high speed internet, and a work area that can be secured

Hours & Pay
Hours and pay vary. Readers are hired on a temporary basis, by project, but are expected to work five days per week, Monday through Friday, for the duration of the project if an assignment is accepted. Attendance during training, usually the first few days of a project, is mandatory.
