2U, which is about 10 years old, is a growing company that helps universities and colleges offer online courses. They appear to handle just about everything, including course content.
They’re hiring for the following remote openings, with benefits:
Part-Time Live Classroom Support Specialist
Pay for this position isn’t mentioned, though Glassdoor has a “Support Specialist” review listing $49,000-$54,000 annually. But that seems high. As a possible reference point, 2U’s p/t Tech Support positions pay about $15-$17/hr., per employee reviews on those jobs. But none of these figures is official.
“The Live Classroom Technical Specialist is responsible for managing and supporting the faculty and student experience in 2U programs by providing take-charge, comprehensive and exceptional customer service. This position requires an individual who is technically savvy, comfortable with online technologies, and is familiar with Adobe Connect or other video sharing platforms. The Live Classroom Technical Specialist will be expected to silently monitor sessions and make technical adjustments to audio/video and be proactive in ensuring a seamless classroom experience.”
Requirements include one year’s experience in a service-oriented, customer support, technical support or related field. Extra credit if you’ve got a bachelor’s degree.
Non-Geeky Tech Support Openings
They also have tech support openings, but customer support experience is fine. You don’t have to be a “geek.” Per employee reviews on Glassdoor, these pay about $15-$17/hr., as mentioned:

This is 2U’s description of the Technical Support Specialist position:
“The Part-Time Technical Support Specialist is responsible for supporting, and ensuring a positive user experience in 2U programs by providing proactive, comprehensive and exceptional customer service.
“This position is the critical “first line of defense” in executing 2U’s expected white glove service level for its students, graduates and faculty. The Technical Support Specialist takes incoming calls from enrolled students and faculty who need technical assistance. They will also actively monitor and support live classroom sessions, assist with new hire training/onboarding, and resolve/escalate all incoming cases.”
Requirements include at least two years’ experience in a service-oriented, customer support, technical support or related field. You’ll also need familiarity with Apple and Microsoft Operating Systems. Extra credit for a bachelor’s degree.
