The demand for local delivery drivers and bikers (and in some cases, walkers) is heating up. Amazon, Postmates, Uber and others are joining the “crowdsourced courier” fray. This spells opportunity for home-based folks who want to get out of the house and to earn extra cash, on their own schedule.
Amazon is hiring Flex deliverypeople (cars only, for the moment, but bike or on foot may come) at an advertised rate of $18-$25 an hour. But Amazon says they’re actually earning more than that, GeekWire reports.
Metro areas include Seattle, New York, Richmond, Nashville, Portland, Raleigh, Virginia Beach, Austin, Dallas, Baltimore, Miami, Atlanta, Houston, San Antonio, Las Vegas, Phoenix, Minneapolis/St. Paul, Indianapolis, Cincinnati, Pittsburgh, and Columbus, the company says.
You’ll need an Android phone (why not iOS, too, guys?), and must pass a background check. Expect demand for drivers to grow as Amazon recently began expanding its Flex-delivered packages from Prime only to standard packages, too, Engadget reported. To apply, click here.
