Chute, a San Francisco-based company, is looking for a Social Media Moderator. No experience required, but for this job you’ll need “computer fluency and an understanding of software and advanced internet functions.”

The pay isn’t mentioned, though your experience and location will play a role, the company says. The average Social Media Moderator salary per Glassdoor is $27,288, but of course “your mileage may vary.”

Chute works with companies like Norwegian Cruise Lines, Jack in the Box, Panda Express and others to help them “tell their stories better.” It enables brands to build their website and social media communities through user-generated photos and other content, identify influencers (like major bloggers), manage digital rights, etc.

Duties & Requirements

Your role as a Social Media Moderator will be to monitor and moderate user-generated content to “make sure the community is a safe environment.”

You’ll be using Chute to do your job, so you’ll want to know your way around it before applying. You’ll be reviewing and classifying images and videos, managing the banned user process, monitoring brand information and news for possible issues, etc.

Requirements include a computer (no tablets or smartphones), good organizational and time-management skills, and availability to work days, evenings, nights, and weekends as required.
