Best Buy is currently hiring work from home “Covert Dispatch Agents” to answer customer questions about Geek Squad Service offerings, Best Buy products, and general Best Buy/Geek Squad inquiries (store hours, Best Buy policies, and product information), and more.

The company is hiring for ALL STATES EXCEPT California, Washington, Alaska and Puerto Rico.

Pay details are not listed, however, Best Buy generally pays quite well.

“Our Covert Dispatch Agents support clients by answering questions including but not limited to: Geek Squad Service offerings, Best Buy products, and general Best Buy/Geek Squad inquiries (store hours, Best Buy policies, and product information). Solution based selling required. Covert Dispatch Agents also provide basic diagnostic and basic repair of technology centric issues including by not limited to: Windows/Mac Operating Systems, application software installation and troubleshooting, consumer grade networking, peripherals, mobile phones, tablets, wearables and other consumer electronic devices.

Covert Dispatch Agents are responsible for accurately documenting their client interactions, recommendations, and resolutions in a Customer Relationship Management (CRM) system and properly and accurately connecting and transmitting client sessions via remote device control applications. The Covert Dispatch Agent is a 100% remote and work from home role (unless otherwise identified).

Key accountabilities:

  • Independently and continually assists multiple clients at one time, performing customer service and diagnostic work with high quality and speed (accurate and swift) using chat, remote desktop/device control solutions, and telephony systems to understand client needs
  • Escalates clients as needed to next tier repair agent or directs to correct resource
  • Maintains high levels of professionalism, courtesy and customer service throughout all client interactions, listening to and de-escalating clients who have an emotional connection to their issue
  • Educates clients on the proper and optimal use and care for their technology using excellent verbal and written communication and soft skills, recommending solutions based on client and technology needs
  • Performs basic repair services based upon initial diagnosis. (e.g., Network Power Cycle, settings adjustments, etc.) using general knowledge of computing/consumer electronics to troubleshoot client issues with Windows/Mac Operating Systems, application software installation and troubleshooting, consumer grade networking, peripherals, mobile phones, tablets, wearables and other consumer electronic devices
  • Assists peers and manager as requested and follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) including Customer Data Privacy, Illegal Software, and Agent Expectations

Basic Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or Older
  • Seeking applicants in all states excluding California, Washington, Alaska and Puerto Rico
  • Ability to meet availability requirements that include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to provide a quiet, distraction-free work environment
  • Ability to provide a reliable high-speed internet connection (Cable, DSL, or Fiber)
  • 2+ years working with customers to troubleshoot operating systems, software, hardware, and networking with Microsoft, Apple and Android operating systems
  • 2+ years experience in an in-person / consumer facing customer service or help desk environment

Preferred Qualification:

  • 4+ years working with customers to troubleshoot operating systems, software, hardware, and networking with Microsoft, Apple and Android operating systems
  • 4+ years experience in an in-person / consumer facing customer service or help desk environment
  • 1+ years of sales experience
  • 1+ years of experience networking Smart Home or non-computing networked devices (e.g. heating and cooling, lighting, home security, crock pots)
  • 1+ years of experience troubleshooting consumer grade networking, peripherals, mobile phones, tablets, wearables and other consumer electronic devices
  • 1+ years of experience educating customers on the proper/optimal use and care for their technology recommending solutions based on client and technology needs
  • 1+ years of experience interacting through a chat-based system (e.g. LogMeIn Rescue, TeamViewer)
  • 1+ years of experience interacting through a phone based environment
  • 1+ years of experience helping multiple clients at the same time”
