American Cancer Society, a nonprofit organization focused on ending cancer, has posted a Remote Cancer Support Specialist opening to their careers page.
In this role, you would connect individuals with American Cancer Society programs, services, and resources to support cancer patients, their families, and caregivers. You’ll respond to inquiries via phone, email, chat, and SMS, conduct needs assessments, provide information on programs, coordinate support services, and manage a caseload of cases while meeting performance goals.
Applicants should have strong customer service skills, excellent verbal and written communication, the ability to work independently and in a team, familiarity with Microsoft Office, and at least one year of contact center or customer service experience. A high school diploma or equivalent is required, and bilingual skills (Spanish/English) are desirable.
The posted pay rate is $19.50 per hour, with actual pay based on experience and location.

This full-time permanent remote role supports cancer patients and their families by connecting them to American Cancer Society resources. The position requires empathy, professionalism, and a focus on quality service delivery across multiple communication channels.
Job Responsibilities

Respond to high-volume inquiries via phone, email, chat, and SMS with empathy and professionalism

Provide detailed information on ACS programs such as transportation and lodging assistance

Coordinate support services to help patients complete treatment

Document interactions and maintain timely follow-up on cases

Contribute to a collaborative team environment and meet performance goals
Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred

Minimum 1 year contact center or customer service experience preferred, remote work experience a plus

Strong verbal and written communication skills, active listening, and interpersonal skills

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment

Proficiency with Microsoft Office and typing speed of 40 WPM

Bilingual Spanish/English skills desirable

Flexible availability including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
