Cox Automotive (owned by the same parent company as Cox Communications) has posted openings for Work from Home Technical Customer Care Specialists.
This position appears to be ideal for entry level candidates and does not require a college degree. The job posting states minimum requirements, include, but are not limited to:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 0 -2 years of related work experience
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
Hourly pay rate is $17.26 – $25.91/hour.

This role provides support to ensure the accuracy of tax and fees within transaction requirements, provides investigative resources for DMV exceptions and rejections, and assists in managing overall transaction accuracy as it relates to taxes and requirements.
This a fully remote role, and candidates are able to work in any time zone in the United States.
Essential Functions:
- Serves as a customer care agent for DMV states and processors.
- Responds to inquiries regarding state processing requirements and exception rules.
- Researches and troubleshoots exception requests, analyzes needs and:
- Determines problem area(s),
- Resolves issues where possible,
- Refers difficult and complex issues to internal technical experts, and/or, refers issues to management,
- Documents results for future reference, internally and externally.
- Documents and reports on inquiries, status, and resolution.
- Works proactively with DMV state and processors regarding scheduled curation of transaction fee and tax charges to ensure processing efficiencies.
- Compiles currently system curated requirements for all transaction types.
- Follows up with DMV state and end processors to identify new and outdated taxes and fees.
- Create spec documentation to properly curate taxes and fees.
- Submits changes to internal team to be curated into the system.
- Documents and reports on status and completion of requests
- Builds working relationships with DMV personnel, end processor vendors, and cross functional teams.
- Manage workflow between our organization and end processor vendors.
- Ensure accurate processing estimates are created,
- Exception management resolution,
- Efficiency tracking and reporting.
- Participate in scheduled partnership meetings.
- Submission of VIN-specific inquiries for deal status.
- Electronic or direct contact with DMV representatives to determine deal discrepancy issues.
- Coordinate recovery efforts with Operations (as needed) for missing/incorrect taxes and fees.
Minimum Requirements:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 0 -2 years of related work experience
- Working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word and Excel
Preferred Requirements:
- Familiar with working in a Remote environment.
- Experience with RegUSA
Drug Testing:
To be employed in this role, you’ll need to clear a pre-employment drug test. Cox Automotive does not currently administer a pre-employment drug test for marijuana for this position. However, we are a drug-free workplace, so the possession, use or being under the influence of drugs illegal under federal or state law during work hours, on company property and/or in company vehicles is prohibited.
Compensation:
Hourly pay rate is $17.26 – $25.91/hour. The hourly rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s experience. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.
Benefits:
Employees receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year. Employees are also eligible for additional paid time off in the form of bereavement leave, time off to vote, jury duty leave, volunteer time off, military leave, parental leave, and COVID-19 vaccination leave.
