What Your Day Will Look Like (Non-Phone Work)
The Copy Editor will focus on ensuring the quality and consistency of various manuscripts. Daily tasks include copy editing novels and nonfiction works, proofreading at multiple stages, and maintaining house style guides. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage tight deadlines efficiently.
Responsibilities & Expectations
- Copyedit Manuscripts: Ensure grammar and style quality
- Proofread Stages: Verify changes and corrections
- Update Style Guides: Maintain consistency for authors
- Manage Deadlines: Work efficiently under pressure
- Collaborate with Team: Coordinate with Copy Chief
Relevant Experience & Skills Required
- Education Requirements: College-level literature understanding
- Experience: 3 years in adult non-fiction
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous and thorough
- Software Proficiency: Word and Adobe tools
- Style Familiarity: Chicago Manual of Style
